To encourage reaching across the midline try sitting your child on the ball facing 45 degrees away from a refrigerator, and asking them to reach with their far hand to take magnetic blocks off of a refrigerator door. This size is usually best for children the size of a typical child between 9 - 18 years old.

Getting a good grip on crayons

If your child holds crayons clenched in a fist while coloring, try giving Chubbi Stump Crayons or Paint Sticks instead of long crayons. The short thick shape promotes the use on a tripod (three fingered) grasp. You can encourage the use of a mature wrist position by having the child draw on an upright easel.
