Shopping can be a challenge for people with developmental disabilities. Shopping Smart helps!

A shopping trip can be overwhelming! So many choices, limited money and a litany of unwritten social expectations make shopping a challenging experience for people with developmental disabilities. Shopping Smart can help! The instructor's guide focuses on grocery shopping, but also covers clothing and household purchases. It organizes shopping into 45 teachable steps, like handling a shopping cart or selecting a checkout lane. By using Shopping Smart reports, you determine which steps your students need to work on. The guide provides a wealth of photocopiable training materials for class or in-store use. Includes picture step pages for grocery, department and clothes shopping, money aids, store location prompts, communication cues, and illustrated social skill tips. The Curriculum also provides an extensive set of illustrated shopping cards to help low-level readers prepare shopping lists. They are color-coded into seven food categories plus clothing, household and personal care items. The cards can be arranged in the pocket book to make shopping easier. Use the marking set to personalize the laminated cards. Includes a 126 page instructor's guide with reproducibles, 240 full-color laminated shopping cards with storage boxes, pocket book and marking set.
