Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Assessment - Geriatric Version LOCTA-G

Note: Review only, product no longer for sale.

A revised version of the popular LOCTA - just for geriatric cliens with brain injuries.

LOTCA™ G is a revised version of LOTCA designed specifically for use as part of an ongoing OT evaluation and treatment plan for geriatric clients with brain injury. Enlarged components help reduce vision and motor coordination difficulties. Reduction of pictorial detail lessens the complexity of tasks. New memory subtests have been added to the kit. The LOTCA™ (Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment) Battery is a cognitive battery of tests for both primary assessment and ongoing evaluation in the treatment of brain-injured individuals. The LOTCA™ Battery has proven to be reliable and valid in providing therapists with a profile of the patient's cognitive abilities. If consists of 20 sub-tests divided into four areas: orientation, visual and spatial perception, visuomotor organization and thinking operations. The battery's validity is further supported by the developmental age standards determined from a sample of children, ages 6 to 12 years, which show age progression according to the hierarchical order of the abilities assessed by the battery. Findings from psychiatric populations suggest that the LOTCA™ battery is also useful in pointing out possible underlying organic dysfunction. The kit includes card decks, colored blocks, pegboard set, 56-page manual and other materials, all packed in a carrying case with handle, 13 1/2"x10"x3 1/4" (34x25x8 cm). Shipping weight is 4.5 lb. (2.1 kg.).

Play Tip PLAY Tip

High contrast for low vision.

High visual contrast helps children with low vision or cortical blindness find and visually track toys. Use backgrounds to create contrast. Three tablecloths (black, white, yellow) and a bright light will help almost any toy to visually pop out! Spread a black cloth on the floor and shine a light on it. Now send the Musical Turtle on a trek across the cloth. It is so much easier to track now! Pick the appropriate colour background for each new toy, and turn up the contrast!
